Paul's Pallets ........
Chilly, sunshine, rain, and a couple of hail showers. A typical April day in Scotland.
Fed everything then a wee mini rodeo to get some more cows and calves in to tag the calves.
Then an afternoon of odd jobs and some paperwork.
Nipped down to the village with these pallets at tea time. A pal wants to borrow them to help during the construction of a shed in his garden.
When I checked the cows at 8pm there was an Angus just starting to calve. Checked her again at 9.30 and she was no further on. Got the bike and started to bring her in but after several near misses at the steading gate had to call in the cavalry in the form of wee brother and his bike too.
Even with an extra bike she managed to jump a fence into the 40 acre barley field next door, wrecking the electric top wire in the process. So after an extra rally round the barley field we eventually got her into the crush, got her calved and into a pen with her new baby. Gave her some silage to eat and cleared out to let her calm down. Hopefully it will have sucked by the morning, but probably not !
By then it was half ten,and it's now chucking down with rain.
Goodnight.
