Reader, I ate it!

I was hoping that my oyster mushroom kit might yield another flush, but nothing was happening, despite my soaking and spraying it. So I put it in a bucket on the countertop and left it for a week. When I came back from Edinburgh, I went to throw it on the compost and found a single mushroom growing near the base - 7 inches in diameter! I ate it for lunch today.
