Congratulations Waleed !!

Bafta nominations came through first thing and Baghdad Central got three..most thrilling for us was a nomination for Waleed, our leading man.  The distinction between leading man and character actor is constantly debated and this was Waleed’s first leading role.  His main observation on set was that it was a lot more work, ‘where’s my days off?!’   Often superb character actors get bumped up to leading roles and it just doesn’t work, there is a sort of hollowness at the centre of the story.  Olivia Colman made the leap brilliantly, others don’t. It’s not about looks but it’s about charisma; you want to watch that person doing anything.  So it’s an accolade and Waleed really feels that....
