Fence on the Hill
It was very misty first thing this morning. After dropping off my daughter at work I headed up to Cooper's Hill, scene of the annual cheese rolling event where, every Spring Bank Holiday Monday, competitors run, trip, tumble and chase down the 1 in 2 gradient (!) in pursuit of an 8lb Double Gloucester cheese! Is there anything more crazy than this? Today the hill was totally deserted but also in the mist had a quite ethereal atmosphere. I particularly liked the slightly twisted, slightly broken down protective fence that is meant to discourage people from taking an extremely dangerous short cut down a very, very steep path back to the car park at the bottom. As advised I followed the proper path back!
