Still flying ...
The day after Concorde's tragic crash in Paris, the evening arrival from New York comes over Chiswick, a few minutes before landing at Heathrow.
Shortly after this, flights were suspended while the remaining aircraft were modified and though commercial services resumed for a short while Concorde was taken out of service in October 2003.
Something in me died when Concorde stopped flying. Even though it was 30 years old, the daily arrival over London was still an event. People would stop in the street, gaze in awe and say "Coo, it's Concorde!"
(I've gone quite blurry eyed, just writing that.)
