The Woodland Garden (Tuesday 27th April 2021)

Most of Tuesday was spent working on the photos taken the day before, but I did take a few shots of the Woodland Garden.

The Variegated Sycamore Maple (Acer pseudoplatanus Brilliantissima) that I photograph each year when it first comes out has been a little late this year, but at last here are its shrimp-coloured leaves, spreading like airborne fish across the centre of the garden, as seen from my open study window. In a month or so the leaves will have turned green.

Everybody knows the original of this by Aretha Franklin, her second incendiary single for Atlantic Records, but I hadn't hear this cover by two giants of the blues until Cerys Matthews played it on her show this week.
