A beautiful day, a scenic drive

One of the simple perks of being your own boss, is the ability to slack off for a few hours when mother nature delivers you a day so beautiful, a day so inviting that it would be criminal not to turn off the computer and get outdoors to gaze at the sky rather than the computer screen.

Fortunately, the state of Washington is blessed with some of the most ruggedly magnificent scenery in the entire country. Today's drive along a portion of the Cascade Loop provided ample eye candy, as well as a chance to unwind and get away from all things electronic, if only for a few hours.

At higher altitudes, there is still plenty of snow in WA in the month of March, so we could only travel so far when we were met with this sign. In addition to the beautiful scenery, we got to sample the treasure trove of music on Rich's Zune MP3 player. For those of you who don't know Rich, he has quite a colorful history with pop music, having written, recorded, arranged, and produced numerous songs and CDs. As we cruised along, we chatted about pop music trends and culture while listening to tunes such as this one, arranged and produced by Rich and written by his music cohort, Lance.

On the last leg of today's trip, we re-entered Bellingham via Chuckanut Drive, another route listed on the top ten scenic drives in Washington State. This song, also arranged and produced by Rich was up on the player as we finally pulled into Fairhaven where we bellied up for a few drinks before heading home for dinner and to answer emails . . .
