A little too much excitement in the marina
Today I was admiring the skill with which this pile driving barge was being manoeuvred round the marina. My enthusiasm waned when it arrived at OUR pontoon to which we were tied up and proceeded to extract the wooden pile at the end, in close proximity to the front of our boat. They clamped the pile firmly, gave it a jolly good shoogle and gradually pulled out an impressive length complete with seaweed and assorted marine life. The bit that was most fun was when they tried to get this huge length of heavy timber on to the barge by waving it around in the air at the front of our boat. By this time I was taking videos for our insurers, just in case. The guy on the pontoon suggested they should put it back in to change where they were holding on to it, and the manoeuvre was successfully accomplished. A shiny new metal pile was posted in place in short order. I expect our neighbours on the pontoon next door thought this was a jolly good spectator sport until they realised it was their turn next.
