Lone(ly) Goose

He's been wandering around the yard all by himself for three days and now I'm worried that something has happened to his mate.  Thinking positively, she's probably sitting on some eggs and will soon appear with a new brood.  I know nothing about the breeding habits of Canada Geese but I do seem to recall that this is about the time of the year when we see the little chicks appear,  I'm hopeful, otherwise I'll have to adopt him.
