An ordinary life....

Divine intervention...

We set off for Loch Tay slightly later than planned but that didn't matter as the whole point of these few days away is to chill and go with the flow....no change there then!  lol

There were four routes open to us to get us to the cottage and we chose the Crieff-Comrie-Lochearnhead-Killin route, meaning we approached our destination from the west rather than the east.  It was a lovely run that started off in cloudy conditions and ended in sunshine.

Found the cottage without any problem.  Our breaths were taken away when we walked into the open plan kitchen /  lounge and saw the view (in extras) The cottage really is fabulous.  I know I absolutely love the little Boathouse right on the edge of the loch where we normally stay, but I have to say, this place is just as stunning.

The Boathouse is on the south south side of the loch facing west (so faces the sunset) this cottage is on the north side facing south east, so we get to see the setting sun reflected on the hills opposite.  The light constantly changes.

As we settled in, I flicked the switch for the fairy light twigs but nothing happened.  Switched on the lounge light and again nothing happened.  Mentioned it to D who tried a few more sockets and it became clear we had no electricity!  D phoned the owner who got David to check the consumer board.  Definitely no electricity.  Owner said he would make some calls and ring us back.  He phoned five minutes later to advise there was a fault on the network as the result of an electrical pole fire, which was affecting 240 households.  The Fire Brigade and SSE were in attendance and hoping to restore power by 8.30pm.  Nothing else for it but to pour a G&T, nibble some nibbles and park ourselves in front of this wonderful view.

Ten minutes later this amazing rainbow appeared.  I can't remember the last time I saw one so vibrant.  My photo does it no justice, it was absolutely glowing.  As we sat there admiring it the lamps clicked on and the kettle sprang into life.  Power restored two hours earlier than expected. Yay!

Now dinner and a glass of wine followed by feet up and nose in my book.

This break was definitely worth the wait!
