Big Blocks.
Same beach as the irn bru can but at the other end and looking in the opposite direction. This is the 3rd of the Churchill Barriers. Which were built during the 2nd world war to stop submarine's getting in to Scapa Flow. They were built by Italian prisoners of war. To get round the fact that prisoners of war shouldn't be made to do anything to further the captors war effort they put roads on the top and called them essential transport links. Who were they kidding?
The barriers are made up of huge cement blocks and this is the first time I've managed to take a pic that I hope does them justice.
Was a day of ups and downs, highs and lows, busy rush and quiet spells. Bit like the tide.
Have a great weekend.
