Still Water by Nic Fiddian-Green

I woke up at about 5am this morning as I was worried I would be late for my 8.15am meeting at RHS Wisley! I had booked a ticket to the photography morning at RHS Wisley where you are allowed to enter the gardens at 8.15am to take photos before it opens to the public at 9.30am. I actually booked two tickets because as a member I could get two tickets for free, and I had offered it to anyone who wanted it from my camera club - as it turned out there were four members from our camera club there as someone else had done the same.

It was not the best morning for photos - dull light with not much sunshine, and very windy. The wind was bitingly cold, quite ridiculous to be so cold at the end of April. I had planned to take photos of all the blossoms and flowers but our very cold spring has delayed the blooming of many flowers so it was a bit disappointing. However I did spend ages in the orchard photographing all the apple blossom and other fruit blossom waving wildly in the wind, not easy with a macro lens to get a decent shot but I did come home with quite a few that I liked. By 10am we were so cold we went to get a coffee and of course by then the sun was shining brightly and it has been a beautifully sunny day since then.

As I have been blipping so many flowers lately I thought I would show the new installation at RHS Wisley called Still Water by a local artist Nic Fiddian-Green. There is another of these horse head statues on the open fields next to our village,  which can be seen from the motorway by motorists. I think they are beautiful.

It was good to meet other members of the camera club, as I joined in lockdown and have not met many members 'in the flesh' yet. I got home in time to walk Xena and then relaxed for the rest of the day.

Gavin did get a call today from someone from the UK government Coronavirus isolation assurance team, on the landline, so to check he was actually at home. Good that they are being so thorough, as with the Covid disaster unfolding in India we still have to be very careful!
