I'm very excited to definitely confirm our pond is home to newts. I've been disappointed the last few years not to see any frogspawn despite spotting the odd frog here and there, but apparently newts eat it so maybe that's why. The Bear recently saw what he thought was the rear end of one disappearing into the weed, but today when I was cleaning algae out I clearly saw several of them. This little chap or chapess in the centre of the image stayed still long enough for me to get a photograph which I've enhanced to make it clearer.
