Day off
I’ve certainly accrued a lot of holidays over the last year, with 5 days still to take from last year, so took Friday off. Weather forecast wonderful everywhere, but still a bit chilly For camping. We took the train to the Schwarzwasserbrücke, and just with a light rucsack, set off walking through the Schwarzwasser gorge. It was pretty quiet and very pleasant, and lots of interesting sandstone cliffs and troughs. Coming up from the gorge again was a steep almost 200m pull through the forest. At the top, we were rewarded with a panorama, a little bit hazy perhaps, of the Gantrisch peaks, which are beautiful snow covered shapes, at over 2000m. For an hour we walked over a high plateau of green pastureland, accompanied by the distant alpine peaks.
Another steep drop back to the base of the Schwarzwasser gorge, back to the white cliffs and the rushing green water, it really wasn’t black at all! Back up again after crossing, then another hour high up following the track to Schwarzenburg where we stayed for the night. We’ve never been to this rural town before, it has a beautiful castle, a chapel from 1400s and lots of lovely old wooden houses. It was really quiet there, and after dinner we had another walk around the old town, before an early night. Took me ages to choose the blip, but I really loved this very young foal.
