Birthday Boy
Sixty-Eight years seems a long time yet looking back it seems to have flashed by. I thought about what to write so I selected four years, seventeenish years apart.
1953 - Born at Woking in Surrey, my Mum went into Labour whilst attending a funeral.
1970 - Not long into my Naval career, not yet on ‘mans’ time loving every minute.
1987 - Fourth year of service in Northern Ireland, serving as the SNCO, Chief Of The Boat onboard HMS Redpole
2004 - Maintenance Team Leader at WC Rowe, a bakers in Falmouth. Less than one year out of the Navy and finding the adjustment difficult.
Back to today, a lie in, bacon and eggs for breakfast, cards and gifts, thoroughly spoilt.
Roesemullion Cornish Spiced Rum, luxury chocolates, a replacement cordless drill, an antique book on Naval Battles and an appointment at a motor factors to have a dash cam professionally fitted, as I said, thoroughly spoilt.
We walked from Swanpool Beach to Maenporth Beach where we paused for coffee, cake and a paddle. We walked back to Swanpool where we paused for coffee and more cake. Home for the Irish v Quins rugby match before a dinner of pizza, cake and rum.
What a great day.
