Red Eye

I got up really early, for an early morning visit to Pennington Flash.

Oystercatchers seem to be adaptable birds, and not shy. This one was not too bothered by my proximity, although we were well beyond 2 metres apart.

They are the striking black and white wader, although what is really striking is the bright red beak and eye.

Extras - a mute swan on its nest - and their nests are huge, quite a feat of construction. And a small unidentifiable beetle on an in identified flower. It’s not just bees that pollinate.?
