Mexican Bird of Paradise

The first bloom of the year. These bushes are very invasive. They pop up in the strangest places. I allow some to survive until they are finished blooming. Wicked thorns on some of them so care is needed when pruning.

I tackled a red yucca plant that was looking pretty shabby. Another plant that does not like to be messed with. I now know why gardeners wear long sleeves. 

I am grateful the guys that are here working on the irrigation and doing the pruning along the fence line will be cleaning up the mess I made!
