Earth Day 2021.

Today is earth day so, taken literally, here is the earth around a lavender I planted.

I feel the need to say something about our earth. April is traditionally the time of planting with plentiful rain and sunny spells to warm the soil and water the plants but I've not felt a drop. A herb farm I follow on Instagram posted today that they've kept weather records for 35 years, the whole time they've been trading, and this April has had the coldest overnight temperatures they have recorded. Recently a farmer, who's family have farmed the same land for over 60 years, told a customer of mine that, during the last winter, their records showed it has been the wettest they have ever known.

I hope that we, as current custodians of this beautiful place, can grasp the serious situation we have created.
