A Relic Of History

Our next door neighbour’s cottage has been occupied by his daughter and her "intended".

They have now vacated the premises and are now on their  very long journey to Australia.

I now resume my duties as looking after the property, checking the mail and looking after the recycling bins. More steps to cover each day.

Today’s Blipfoto is taken from the neighbours’ side of the boundary. It shows the last remaining remnant of the 1841 iron gates which graced our property.

The gates were requisitioned during WW2 to provide much needed (allegedly) iron to help the "war effort".

I suspect that the requisitioned gates are rusting away in a long forgotten pile. Most of the metal was unsuitable.

I really should come up with a design to replace the gates. We have several Blacksmiths who could make the copies.

Another very pleasant day as the blue sky testifies.
