I am most pleased to report that the Great Tit eggs in one of my nestboxes have hatched today... The mother and father are feeding them little green caterpillars as if there is no tomorrow... the little beauties should be ready to fledge in two to three weeks... last year from the same box I identified twelve eggs; one egg didn't hatch..I found it buried at the bottom of the nest material, one fledgling was found ready to go but unfortunately didn't make it and the other ten successfully fledged.. Hoping for similar results this year and with the weather being so good so early there should be more than one brood.
