Famous last words - today SJ drove from Poolewe to Edinburgh.

The long way.

We wanted to go through Glencoe y'see - on of her ancestors escaped the massacre by running off into the snow and so we thought it'd be a great idea. On the map it didn't seem that much of a difference. We'd made good time to Inverness and after a wander and coffee headed down Loch Ness. It took us forever to get home - and I honestly thought we wouldn't make it back. Plenty of coffee stops saved the day.

And the moral of the story? don't let me map read (we got back to the house sometime after 8pm) - and always go down the A9 if you want to get home at a reasonable time...

This is Loch Maree from just outside poolewe - a three shot panorama - at the start of the epic adventure south. I think it looks a bit like Middle Earth.
