Three subjects
Initially I had only set out to do my 10k route, but after arriving at the point at which I would normally make a sharp right for home, I pushed on.
Picking up the river again, I headed South and didn’t encounter another soul for the remainder of the run. It was perfect.
The final count came in at 14.71km and it took me 1h 27mins. I felt like I had earned my steak n fries tea. It’s amazing how much of any physical endeavour is a battle of wills with the mind. The body screaming out for a rest, the mind pushing for just a little bit more.
Delighted to see the withdrawal of the English teams from the despicable European Super League. Blatant money grab and entirely against the ethos of the game. Whilst I am sure the withdrawal will advance the journey to forgiveness, football fans have long memories, so it will be a while before their behaviour is forgotten.
Derek Chauvin was found guilty of the murder of George Floyd. I think the well-publicised and indeed, documented fact that he knelt on the man’s neck for NINE MINUTES could probably have negated the need for a trial in a less-civilised society, but due process has been observed and he will pay a price for the life he took. What price that is remains to be seen.
Systemic racism is an aggressively insidious cancer which creeps, moves and evolves with the host. Where it becomes particularly concentrated in a given zone it can push against and change the shape of the surface, giving its presence away whereupon the bump is quickly cut out. Unfortunately, until such time as the host either receives help and/or can find the will to fight and reject the cancer at its root, it will keep growing and pushing at the surface and we all know what happens when a cancer is left to grow unchecked.
