100 ABSTRACTS - NUMBER 12

I didn’t really intend doing another abstract today, but I do have 100 to get through, so today’s shot is an accidental abstract.  By that I mean that it just jumped into my lap - or should I say into my iPhone?  I wonder if you guessed what it was from the thumbnail?

I was walking from the bedroom to the airing cupboard to hang up my pink robe having had my shower, when I noticed that the sun was shining through the landing window and making a shadow on the wall through the venetian blind.

I quickly got my iPhone from the bedroom, and walked partway down the stairs - completely forgetting that I was naked!  It’s a good job we are not overlooked on that side of the house - well only by part of our next door neighbours garden, and I did quickly check that they weren’t out there!

Having taken a couple of shots, I could see an outline of one of the bird ornaments that are on the windowsill - these belonged to my Mum and I do like them.  After she died, no-one else wanted them, so I brought them home and I remember her telling me, on more than one occasion, “They weren’t cheap, you know, Maureen - I don’t buy cheap things - those birds cost a lot of money!”  I’m not sure that they would fetch vast amounts if they went to auction, but it’s good to have them as a reminder of Mum.

Our hall isn’t actually this blue, it's boring magnolia, so I just fartnarkled the colour in Snapseed by changing the white balance, but apart from that, this shot is SOOiP - similar to SOOC, but when you use an iPhone, it makes more sense to say SOOiP!

One more to add to my 100 Abstracts to raise awareness of the Mamie Martin Fund, which provides secondary education for young women and girls in Malawi.  Perhaps when I’ve finished, I will make all my abstracts into a huge collage - you never know, someone might want to buy it and give oodles of money to the Fund!
