Final Hibiscus finale

Even when they've started their swan-song, Hibiscus flowers put on quite an impressive display. Not a patch on their summer heyday display, of course - which is only to be expected - but still quite arresting for a plant that's essentially going through its death throes.
The magnificent bright shades of pink - from full flamingo to subtle rose hues - are now reduced to considerably duller, washed out shades, all randomly streaked by an anaemic off-white.
The central stamen/antenna structure seems to have collapsed under its own weight, while the dozens of fine, pollen-tipped 'branches' have crumpled into a drooping tangle.
When the flower was in full bloom, the petals would dutifully close up tightly each night after sunset, and equally dutifully open up again at daylight. On a recent morning, with the stores of spring growth energy almost depleted, these petals could only manage to partially open up. And when the same day's sunlight was slowly fading, the petals were simply unable to close up any more tightly, and stayed in the same position.
While barely more than a shadow of its former full-bloom glory, the Hibiscus flower is still capable of putting up a very decorous rearguard action, even as it heads toward botanical oblivion.
Wouldn't complain at all if my final days turned out to be similarly decorous.
