Gold digger
Walking down Pettycur with Claire, on a grey, damp, spring evening, we spy this conflicted mini digger on the back of a flatbed. It’s seen better days, despite the superficial finish of gold paint covering its dented, rusting bodywork.
Driving home, there are road closures everywhere. The M90, the by-pass, the A702. It’s a sad journey, detoured through the concrete extrusions of Edinburgh’s western suburbs.
I feel a metaphor coming on.
