Quod oculus meus videt

Woke early and was rather excited to see a few clouds in the sky.  Went out to Pelsall North Common, just walking around enjoying the peace and quiet.

I had a good laugh walking along a path and coming towards me was one of the local foxes.  There was a double take on its part and then it turned tail and headed off in the opposite direction.  No chance to take a photo but I just smiled as this is such typical behaviour; I don't think I've ever got a good photo of a fox around here.

Crossing the canal I also came across three immature male red deer.  This tends to reinforce my thoughts that the local herd splits after the rut, with the males heading to the western end of their roving area, while the females and young tend to stay nearer to the rutting fields.  I need to check out that area soon as the young should be born during this time of year.

After that we had a busy morning painting some doors before lunch out at a local pub.  It's such a pleasure to be able to socialise again, albeit socially distanced.
