Reflections : Moving on from Gutenberg

Recently an acquaintance told me he had downloaded around a thousand books to read digitally from now on and at about the same time I read that Magnus Linklater, preparing to move to a smaller house, was downsizing his library of thousands by carefully selecting those books that he would somewhat grudgingly move on to charity shops.
I do not have thousands of books, although our house is littered with them and recently I have given some to second - hand Booksellers and deposited some in the loft.
However I cannot adjust to Kindle reading so I will have to continue assessing texts to jettison while I continue to buy afresh (preferably from Bookshops) to fill the gaps I create.
Meanwhile I look at this selection from the bedroom bookcase and think to myself -I wouldn't mind reading that again!
And as someone said, "Books Do Furnish a Room" so I have nothing to lose by keeping them lying around until Minimalism takes over and "A Kindle Furnishes a Room"
