twinned with trumpton

By MrFT

Alex had been desperate to cycle across to Fife for ages; so with a fair forecast and the promise of McDonalds at S Queensferry, off we didst go.

Up the cycle path; past Craigie football, and into leafy Barnton; Cramond Brig for a mid morning snack and then onwards through Dalmeny Estates (mostly along the coastal path) Alex likened it to Pedal For Scotland (lumpy) but frequently exclaimed his delight with the expedition. We rolled into the Ferry; slogged up the hill to the Golden Arches and refuelled. Then onto the FRB and across to forbidden parts (although I think Govt guidance allows us a 5 mile margin of error)
Fife duly touched, we headed homeward; following the more usual route thru' the old HP factory and alongside the main road; and back along Cramond / Silverknowes. A nice 25 miles in the sun; some decent chat along the way.

Alex retired to bed to conserve energy ahead of his football training; I took pity and huckled him into a 16 whilst I cycled along behind him. His first solo bus ride; he was quite excited! He got off at the right stop (about 45 seconds before I hove into view) and we walked down to the pitch.
I headed off to say a brief hi to Her and then went to fetch Alex (same thing back, but because it's down hill and a tail wind, I was a good minute ahead of him this time)

Dinner; then the Hertz championship winning performance v Alloa (6-0) and there were tired boys come bed time.
