Diary of an Edinburgher

A No-faff daff!

Off to swim my 1km this morning. I also did TWO lengths of upright dog paddle. This is SO tiring. It takes me ages to move a metre or so. The attendant at the side of the pool tried to look all ways but at me as this pink swimming cap slowly (very slowly) drifted by his feet. But as I got near him I said shouted, 'This is a killer!' He agreed, but said I should get a belt thingie that people who did this wore a 'swim jogger float belt'. It suspends you in the water and then you just do all sorts, but not having to work to keep your head out of the water. He pointed out a young bloke just getting in who was wearing one. I spoke to the young bloke who recommended them.

Aha! I've seen people wearing these, and assumed they'd been in car accidents and had maybe broken their backs. It didn't occur to me that there were a lot of young people with back injuries around.

I stopped at the Hole in the Wall to get some money on the way home. There was a very well dressed mature lady in front of me, pressing all sorts of buttons and taking ages. (I hate people behind me, because that's what I'm like). Then suddenly there was a very loud, and prolonged, well, how shall I put this... fart! It certainly wasn't me, and there was nobody else around, so it must have been her. However, she used my MO - carry on, ignore it, pretend it wasn't you. She had style!

I bought a bunch of daffodils to blip. I've had fun all morning setting up my 'studio' ie my big bit of black material on boxes on the table (Biker Bear's tip). There is no nicer way to spend an hour or two, fiddling around in one's studio, listening to Radio 4. Well, there are probably nicer ways, but this was pretty fine.

Used my macro lens, which I haven't done for a while. I must say, it's much easier to use it indoors. I can fiddle around and use manual focus and the flower doesn't move. The water drops weren't on me as well (ie rain) AND it's a sensible height where I can sit on a chair. This is SOOC. Which is good for me, as I do tend to faff around too much.

Off to the movies. The Filmhouse has a tradition of cheap Friday afternoon movies, mostly attended by students and old folk. 'Side Effects' is the one I will see. I think Jude Law talks just like Cliff Richard. How can that be?

Which reminds me, yesterday at the film, there was a trailer. Make sure you're not holding anything when you watch it - I nearly dropped my Maltesers it was so unexpected! And turn the volume up!

Check it out here!
