Finished

I started making this little basket on zoom with my eldest daughter.  She didn't have enough material so we made a start using dogwood. It was remarkably thick as you can see.. probably perfect for a big log basket but for a small 5 inch basket it was really too thick!!  Anyway we had a go and then I decided to use some of my willow (which I have grown).. being not very long I thought I could probable soak it in the bath so filled it up and popped it in... one day per foot length.. I found the bath plug leaks so the water only really remains for a few hours.. so between forgetting to check and the water running out.. it has taken nearly 10 days to soak 4 ft rods and even then they were not very flexible.. ho hum. Today was the day finally to finish the project.  I am quite pleased with it but I am not sure what I will do with it.. perhaps line it and grow something for the outside table as a display for the summer..
It has been a beautiful day.. I had a friend coming round for coffee but decided I needed to get away from the noise of the builders.. more drive digging and unfriendly van parking getting my goat. Best to be elsewhere so it was rather lovely sitting in the square in a local village nattering over a coffee. Such a joy to feel even slightly normal. Then sweet pea sowing and more gardening. I feel I am getting a little behind with my garden now.. the mornings are all heavily frosty so all tender things have to be brought in at night.
Delivering a commission painting tomorrow.. do hope she likes it when she sees it in the flesh for the first time. I might take my sketch book and do some plein air painting.. it would be a real treat!
