Lake Northam

Lake Northam, commemorates the winning of a gold medal in the 5.5 metre yachting at the 1964 Olympic Games. William Northam was one of the crew of three and was also an alderman on the Council of the City of Sydney at the time. Thought it interesting that the other two crew, who weren't alderman, didn't get a mention except on the plaque. But I will mention them, they were Peter 'Pod' O'Donnell and James 'Dick' Sargeant - good on ya Pod and Dick! The fountain is a bronze yacht.
The lake is in Victoria Park on the corner of Parramatta Road and City Road near Sydney University.
