Aye me!
"Sad hours seem long." Fortunately, happy ones balance this out by disappearing in the blink of an eye!
I don’t know where this weekend has gone or how time seems to have flowed so quickly? Maybe it is the excitement of things opening up again combined with bright, sunshiney days that has brought new hope? I dunno, but whatever it is I like it!
I had one of those rare parenting days when you feel like you just got it right. Please don’t mistake this for a brag, it’s just that it’s so rare an occurrence that I would be remiss in not recording its existence!
We had a nice lie-in before a drive over to Grange and a scoot along the prom followed by a kickabout on the five aside pitch. The Youngest wanted to go into the skate park (which was empty for some reason) and charged around like a mad thing to perform a show. Back on the football pitch there was a lovely moment where the children had scored a goal against me, but had mistimed their celebratory high-five, which lead to a perfect slap across the chops for m’boy. Any other day this would have provoked a riot, but instead they both fell about laughing.
They went back to their mum’s today as it was her birthday, which left The Eldest and I to our own devices. When I suggested a walk by the river, I was pleasantly shocked to have her say yes, so we walked and talked and she spoke of her frustrations with judgment from her peers. I consoled her with the knowledge that that will never change.
Today’s photo is from a tree by the Leisure Centre under which I walk a lot - can anyone tell me what it is please?!
Later on, we sat and watched the brilliant Palm Springs again before I whipped up our favourite: gnocchi, mozzarella and chorizo bake just in time for Line of Duty.
Bring it on Monday, I ain’t a-scared of you!
