We were out for our 6mile walk by 8.30am and even though it was bright and sunny, the white frost still lingered.
I did a few gardening chores before watching the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral. I found the whole event very moving. What an amazing military spectacle, under clear blue skies and within the walls of Windsor Castle.
The family, marching behind the adapted land rover carrying the coffin, brought a lump to my throat, as did the Queen sitting on her own.
Later I needed to go out for another walk. As the sun set I regretted not wearing my winter coat.
Up on the ridge beside my favourite line of beech trees, it was bitterly cold in the east wind.
