Life from city to village

Bullfinch

So today was Mum's birthday. I spent the morning preparing an afternoon tea, with smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwiches, crab and salad sandwiches, scones with home made jam, a St Clements sponge cake, Swiss Roll etc...We went across and my youngest made crepes for lunch. Then the big surprise - I took her across to the hospital and she was allowed to spend an hour with Dad. She was so delighted. Picked her up again, took her home and had the afternoon tea spread on the table. So it was transformed from a birthday she was dreading without Dad, to a lovely afternoon.
The bullfinch was in her garden. Dad is doing ok. He has had more blood transfused today. Best news is that he is now being moved from the side room next to the nurse's station, to one further down the ward. This is progress.
