Counting bees

Today (and yesterday) was the National Bee Counting weekend in The Netherlands and I tried to count all bees, bumble bees and hover flies in our garden during a sunny half hour. They also wanted to know if there were any wasps, but luckily I didn't see those (and I think it's still much too cold for those anyway). I never knew there were so many kinds of regular bees, bumble bees and hover flies by the way, quite difficult to determine them all. Which is why I took pictures of all those I did see to compare them to the ID charts and here's an example of a regular honey bee in the cherry blossom. That tree was full of little and big bees !

Thanks so much for all the 'hitch in the pattern' and other Abstract Thursday entries last week ! For this coming Thursday I propose this optional theme: 'a different viewpoint'. While any theme is optional and open to your own creative interpretation what I mean with a different viewpoint is capturing an abstract view of any photo subject from above or below or through an opening in the subject or which ever way you can think of so that it becomes less recognisable and more abstract. See the extra for an example, that's a corkscrew lying on a glass  captured looking straight into the contraption (and  as I was busy cleaning the deep-fryer and re-filling it with oil, before that, there's a bottle of oil behind it !). Thursday's tag will be AT304.

Here are last week's specials:
Crispin25              pigeon feet hitch
flossie                    a tasteful liquid pattern
DonnaWanna        amazing different view on toothpicks !
ValC                        fabric zoomburst
gordo                      abstract seating
Thanks again for all your entries !

And thank you very much for the kind comments and stars for my greenhouse contents :-)
