Trip out (legally 20 km across boarder to Co Offaly) to get a quote for Stan the campervan Re spray after the paint peeled off the door when I pulled the unwanted stickers off when we bought it back in October. This is the first opportunity due to lockdowns . Unreal !! Really nice guy , came highly recommended and the decision is quite simple . 4000 euro for whole van to change the colour or 450 for door and a few other dinks to be ironed out and spot of rust. So Irish post van green it stays , we’ve got really used to it thankfully !!
Then we walked around Victoria Lock on the river  Shannon, built in 1844 with all the fancy twiddly bits that Victorian engineers did so well. Had a good nose about as we were the only ones there until the lock keeper arrived, what another
nice guy. The lock keepers cottage was shut in 1995 , shame as it’s a lovely building.
We walked out over the river along the new walkway, completed last year but not open due to COVID restrictions - great having the place to ourselves. Basil was ok for the first minute but had to be carried the rest of the way, I think it hurt his paws.
Back to Stan for coffee and biscuits in the sunshine and home for lunch and quick 20 mins of HRH D of E funeral before squeezing in an afternoon hack. The Queen is incredibly poised and strong. RIP Prince Phillip, he was quite a character .
