(or Little Grebe Tachybaptus ruficollis). I had a little wander at Saltholme this afternoon and mostly just watched this bird diving in and out of the reeds. Very relaxing. I also saw my first Green-Veined White of the year (extra).

B asked me to bring a Colin the Caterpillar cake home as he's only just become aware of them (good marketing ploy, M&S) and wanted to see what the fuss is about but they were sold out. I bought a chocolate swiss roll instead, saving £5.50, and told him it was Colin the Chrysalis!
