WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

Yorkshire Compost!

Firstly, thanks for all the nice messages about my post jab headache. I woke up this morning right as rain and raring to go. The weather is just beautiful!

The compost - they sell it at our local council tip,  made from the garden rubbish from people’s brown bins. 3 bags for a tenner and it’s organic.

We got a metal rose arbour the other day and Frank fixed it on to the wall between the yard and garden. Today we went to a different garden centre that we’d never been to before to buy two rambling roses. When I got there I was like a kid in a sweetie shop! They had such a lovely variety of plants. Of course we didn’t come out with just two roses! I got an Honesty plant (I’ve tried to grow them from seed so often but to no avail), an Aster (Michaelmas Daisy) and an Anenome as well some wallflowers and some bedding plants for down at the boat.

I set to work as soon as we got home and planted the ones for here then I sowed the carrot seeds in the big tubs which are a compost bin cut in half.
I’ve used them for years, they are bottomless and I fill the bottom with large stones and old bricks then fill them halfway up with a mix of compost and sand. Carrots don’t like rich soil. I always get an amazing crop.

I FaceTimed Amelia today while Lucy was at dancing class. It was nice to chat to her and she’s looking more grown up.
Tomorrow I’ll FaceTime Lucy.

Tomorrow we’re going down to the boat for a few days as things need to be done there now. Frank has to fit the new double glazed units in the sky lights - they had been leaking.
I need to do the garden and clean the boat inside and we’ll clean the outside together.

I was chatting to various neighbours across the fences and Bella May was in and out of their gardens. At one point there were 4 dogs in Sarah’s garden next door then later on Sarah had a gathering in her garden and Bella’s boyfriend Baxter was there, they love, love, love each other! Bella is now flat out exhausted and hasn’t even eaten her tea!

Also cleaned the bathroom and changed our bedclothes.
I’m pretty exhausted now myself - bit happily!

Hope you’re all enjoying your weekend. :-)X

PS I only saw bits of Prince Phillip’s funeral on the evening news but thought it was very sad to see the Queen sitting all alone :-(
