Sheringham Hall

B, H and I often take a walk through NT Sheringham Park, but today we had a special treat as the gardens surrounding the privately-owned Sheringham Hall were opened up to the public to raise money for St John Ambulance who, like many charities, have suffered with reduced fund-raising throughout the Covid pandemic.
I particularly wanted to explore the greenhouses, for some reason I'm rather fond of old greenhouses, although these ones were either beautifully restored or had been re-built.  The main blip is the view of the lovely parkland surrounding the house taken through the large greenhouse window and the extra is a view through the door into one of the smaller greenhouses built along the side of the walled garden.

We all had a splendid time and enjoyed some tasty home-made refreshments and cup of tea next to the tempting looking swimming pool in the walled garden.

The hall was built on the instructions of Abbot and Charlotte Upcher who engaged the architect and landscape designer Humphry Repton and his son John Adey Repton to build the house and to present designs for the surrounding parklands. Humphry worked on the landscape and John designed the hall.
