Old Times Sake
Rekindling of dreams. Managed to 3D print some parts for my beloved Tamiya Thunder Dragon from 1989. It still works, just (the electronic speed controller has decided not to go forwards for some reason). The shock mounts were 3D printed after years of using hand cut fibreglass pieces as I was never happy with the original suspension set up. Dampers filled, roll bar attached, new tyres, tail wing re-fitted (if you can excuse the brown insulation tape repairs) and linkages nicely lubed. Next job is to try and create a wooden mould for the body using the CNC router and the vacuum former at work. This will take some time using the OnShape 3D software and will no doubt take a few prototypes using (easier to cut) styrofoam etc. It the meantime I will have to put up with the hastily cut hacked original body (trimmed and hacked over the years to save weight and lower the centre of gravity). Maybe I should have gone into F1 years ago......
Full pic in extra.
