On top of the world
Well actually.. on top of the old slag bank. Go back 150 years and it was just flat land at sea level but the waste product from the iron works was dumped in a pile.. which grew a mile long and 200 ft high. A lot was removed about 40 years ago for the hard core for road building then it was grassed over and a footpath curves up and round it.
The bit you can see in the blip is the final part which is gradually being grassed over and also taken over by gorse . In the distance are the hills of the southern Lake District.
Today was another pleasant warm day. We walked at the top end of the Channelside walk which rises up onto the top of the slagbank. Quite hazy in the distance but a lovely walk.
Sat in the sun reading for a while when we got home. Then it was time to take Fletch out for his teatime walk.
Another busy day ! Lol
