Bloody nose

Not mine but this - the Lesser bloody-nosed beetle - apparently it secretes  a red liquid from its mouth when threatened although I've never seen one in action. I guess I'm not threatening enough. Its a flightless beetle that I sometimes see on the dry sand parts of our heathland reserve. 

Very occasionally I get an ocular migraine. Today was one of those days. The visual effects are most peculiar.
