Escape to Threipmuir Reservoir

A sunny day and a very short trip (for exercise and still within Edinburgh) to Threipmuir Reservoir near Balerno in the Pentland Hills. 
It is located behind an earth dam, constructed to a design by Scottish civil engineer James Jardine and constructed between 1843 and 1848 to augment water supplies to Edinburgh, by the Edinburgh Water Company.
