Wellington Botanical Gardens.
The first day of b-e-a-utiful sunshine since we arrived in Wellington, New Zealand. All the work to be done at NIWA was relatively heavy lifting so me and Niki were excused for the day and took the opportunity to visit the Wellington Botanical Gardens.
After a looooong climb up some steep roads we reached the botanical gardens. First we frequented the observatory to "learn sciences" before taking on several of the walks around the gardens. The flowers were copious and vibrant. After spending all day in the sun it was time to retire in the outside cafe with a sandwich and an iced coffee.
After lunch we took the cable car back down into town before visiting the Wellington Museum. Why we didn't take it up and walk down we'll never know.
