PumpHouse

I pass this a few times a week. Built in 1905 beside Lake Pupuke it’s furnace powered pump shifted water from the lake to early settlers in Devonport. When the Waitakere ranges became the source for Auckland’s water it was decommissioned and fell into disrepair. In the late 1960s the (to be) North shore theatre and arts trust raised funds for its restoration and conversion to a theatre. In 1983 it was listed as an historic building and continues to be a theatre .
