Blackthorn with Blossom

The hedgerows are full of white blossom right now: my friend says that last year there wasn't much at all, but this year it's everywhere! Perhaps that means there'll be a bumper crop of sloes in the Autumn?

With Blackthorn blossom comes before the leaves: of course the other main plant in hedgerows is Hawthorn. With this shrub you get the leaves first and then the pinkish-white blossom afterwards.
