Female Nuthatch (Sitta europaea )
Recently we have put up more feeders so that there are now feeding stations at both sides of the house. This has resulted in a slow increase in the number of birds using parts of the garden they rarely did before.
This means that before the Whitebeam comes into leaf there are some chances for shots of the birds in more natural surroundings. The Nuthatch is an infrequent visitor. I spotted it from the living room, grabbed the camera and rushed into the kitchen (its nearer the feeder). Soon it was back on the feeder and as is their habit very quickly away again. on its third and last visit I managed to catch it in the Whitebeam.
