The infrastructure plan, as currently envisioned, would "address Amtrak's repair backlog; modernize the high traffic Northeast Corridor; improve existing corridors and connect new city pairs; and enhance grant and loan programs that support passenger and freight rail safety, efficiency, and electrification." $80B.


This is the part of the plan that has newspapers around the country and people speculating about what new lines they would like to see. 


The new president is known to be fond of Amtrak, having ridden it every day to commute home.
