Dragon Train

Ceridwen and I visited the art museum in the evening. The visiting show is a collection of Outsider Art, or the art of very serious non-professional artists.

This is Dragon Train by Martín Ramírez (March 31, 1895 - February 17, 1963). Wax crayon, graphite, colored pencil, and water-based paint on pieced papers (with collaged printed newsprint).

The artist spent most of his adult life institutionalized with catatonic schizophrenia.

It strongly reminded me of the Horseshoe Curve in Altoona, Pennsylvania. That's a place of which the effect is impossible to capture with a camera because the miles-long trains make a loop all around you. However, this picture gets the gist of it.
