Life in Newburgh on Ythan

Problem solved!

This morning an unexpected parcel was delivered by the village postie. It was just what we needed!

A couple of weeks ago we bought ourselves a little device from Amazon that plays music, shows our photographs and much, much more. It sits in the kitchen and until today was perched on top of the tea caddy which was not ideal.

Today, problem solved! The parcel, which was from an old friend from student days, contained a miniature Orcadian creepie which he had made from driftwood. It is the perfect stand for our  "device".

By way of explanation, ‘Creepie’ is an Orcadian dialect word for an old milking stool – to ‘creep’ means to bend down low, and the stools were low to the ground. They traditionally had two solid sides with boards along the top to form the seat.
